A great war encroaches following the turbulent events of patch seventeen, casting a menacing shadow over both Demon Grounds and lands of the light races. Roused from a millennia-old slumber, dark gods seek to exact vengeance for their past defeat. Max finds himself at the epicenter of it all—with the lives of his woman, his friends and all his people in the Wild Wood dependent on him. Two unlikely heroes must stand—and endure—against all odds one a Black Demon from an ancient prophecy, the other a fabled Gray Lion...
Shadows of the Great Forest Epic LitRPG Realm of Arkon Book 4 eBook G Akella Mark Berelekhis
Too rushed and bland characters make this book insanely boring.I understand that the author wants Max to catch up to Roman, but this is not the right way to do it. A time skip would have done the same thing without ruining the immersion. Max puts in barely a tenth of the effort for 10x what other players get. Max is the worst kind of mary sue/gary stu there is. He is ridiculously lucky and doesn't even have to try half the time. This book is basically book 1-3 condensed into one.
Reading this book ruins the other story for me because it invalidates Roman's effort. At least with Roman, he was sent there initially to be tormented for all eternity. The epic and unique quests all over the place could be explained by him being the only one there. Everything he gained, he had to work his ass off to achieve.
TLDR: Skip past this book and read book 5 instead. Don't ruin it for yourself.

Shadows of the Great Forest Epic LitRPG Realm of Arkon Book 4 eBook G Akella Mark Berelekhis Reviews
This book tells story of what Max and his group are
doing while the events in the demon realm are going on.
Is lot's better and more interesting even though you have to follow the second main character and his great fleets of heroism. Now #5 should be real exciting I hope.
This series is one of the best litrpg series I've read so far, and I've read a few. I highly recommend it.
Good stuff! Thoroughly enjoyable, and Akella's style of writing in this release is just as "immersive" as previously (though, thankfully, not literally. Not sure we're ready for our own Patch 17 just yet ;).
As some have pointed out, the POV shifts to Max, but the story line continues to develop. Anyone else looking forward to Max and Roman comparing notes about the bigger picture? Should lead to our main characters putting more pieces of the bigger puzzle together. In both story lines, you can see that the characters know there is more going on than their current quest lines, but it remains tantalizingly on their periphery, waiting for someone to connect the incomplete dots.
Looking forward to the next one!
I'd give the first 3 books 4-5 stars but this book was just filler about a character I didn't want to read about. For more explanation, Roman is not in this book, it's all about Max. I don't mind that the author wrote about him, but label the book as a spin off or something since it should not be "the next book in the series". I spent money buying the next book and it turns out it's not. This is partially my fault as I should have read more about it instead of just pressing the buy next book button, but I still feel this is a cheap trick.
Wasn't interested in this book at all. They were fine as secondary characters but not an entire book. Felt like I wasted my money and now won't purchase any more in series . you ruined storyline for me. Frankly it feels.like all you did was carbon copy what was already written three books back and change some names etc .
I have enjoyed all the books in this series but I usually buy audiobooks which I will do when this comes out in that format. I have enjoyed gow he tells two stories at the same time. Its a great read and I wish the MMOs played more like this RPG book. I would recommend this book and the series its a part of without question. It's enjoyable!
