I have to say I was drawn in by the pictures, how can you not love a story with a boy hugging a cow! I loved the farm life photos but as I paged through, I had to say it was slightly unbelievable that this farm boy could land such a hot chick. So I decided to read the story.And this is where I was completely blown away. Besides a captivating story, the writing is awesome. Why have I not read anything by this author before? As for the story, I came to understand the wild and crazy spirit in this Bobbob that caught the heart of his Jean. And lead them on a fun and loving adventure that helped create of family of six kids (What are they crazy?).
But it was obvious how much they loved kids and therefore how wonderful it was becoming grandparents, therefore the title.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes farm animal, children, romance, business, crazy university times, travel and adventure! I loved it.

What a guy and what a life! An inspiration, really and truly, you have to love a guy who with the moxie to name a cow after a girl he likes. Bob bid boldly in life and his big bets paid off handsomely. A joy to read.
What a great read about a great man! Lots of funny and touching stories early farm life, college pranks, engineering sales career and most importantly creating a wonderful family life and legacy. Loved it! Can't recommend it enough.
This was such a well written book that brought you right into the life of Bob and his family. All older people should write such a memoir for their family. Grand kids today have no idea what life on a farm (with no indoor plumbing or phones and plenty of chores) is like. These types of books are our history. Read and savor this delightful book that is full of family and love.

A challenging but rewarding read!!! Mr. Henry describes what it was like growing up on an Illinois farm in the 30's, and then meeting the love of his life while he was in college. Together, they had the adventure of their lives raising 6 kids in the sixties and seventies and staying sane while doing so. Well, almost sane!
The great tragedy of this book is here is a unique American voice comparable with Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and many others who unfortunately did not share his great writing talent with the world until he was in his 80's. Here's hoping he has a few more books in him!!!

Becoming Bob-Bob is a loving memoir written by a lovely husband, father and son. The memoir traces Bob Henry's life from his birth place on a farm in Illinois through a successful career, family and to his golden retirement in the Pacific NW. From the first chapter, I was engrossed through Bob's artful storytelling, his ability to capture every-day occurrences and turn them into an emotionally engaging and often humorous life moments. My favorite had to be his recounting of taking six kids to northern Wisconsin for a typical family vacation that turned out to be anything typical. Read the book to find out how Bob graciously handled flying bats, screaming kids with the support and cherish from his loving wife, Jean.
